Mills Compact Cotton Overshirt

A 100% cotton heritage cloth, discovered in the archives of a North of England textile mill that has been weaving since the 1800s.
A mid weight compact plain weave cloth with a soft, peachy handle. The cloth has a dry wax finish, although this is less apparent following garment washing. It still offers a level of weather protection, while the wash process softens the cloth , eliminates shrinkage during home laundry and gives the overshirt a softer handle with a naturally worn in look and feel.
Due to the very limited availability of this cloth, we only have a small number of these pieces available.
The shirt has a squared-off hem and is designed to be worn out , not too long, not too short, with the sleeves cut to just the right length. It works equally well as an overshirt or lightweight jacket.
The one piece collar sits particularly well when the top button is done up, giving the shirt a clean, considered look. The button positioning also means it works equally well with the top button undone.
It’s an easy piece to wear and works well with navy, greys, black, khaki, and particularly well with indigo denim.
There’s an outer chest pocket and a handy inner chest pocket, both finished with profile stitching and subtly secured at the stress points.
The shirt is cut and sewn in our home town of Derby, in small, limited batches. The quality and make are first class.
Constructed using traditional French seams on vintage industrial machines, all inner facings are taped and bound for a quality finish inside and out.
Keyhole buttonholes are cut one by one on a 1940s industrial Reece 101, with no modern automated machinery involved, then finished with beautiful horn buttons made in England back in the 1980s.
Nothing is rushed, nothing is automated, every detail is considered.

Wash Care:
Dry clean, warm iron, do not bleach, do not dry clean. Wash similar colours together.

Regular fit, go for your usual size.
Measurements & Sizing:
True to size, go for your regular size.
Below are technical measurements when the garment is laid flat, these measurements will be bigger than your actual chest measurement, allowing room for movement.
Chest measurements are taken 2cm below armpits.
Back length does not include the collar or rib.
